Outback Steakhouse is a sit-down restaurant with an Australian theme and is owned by Bloomin’ Brands. Known for their delicious steak and steak related items, Outback also offers a variety of other menu items to please everyone in your family. Their focus on high quality food and affordable prices has helped Outback earn its popularity. The parent company, Bloomin’ Brands, is headquartered in Tampa, Florida and operates a variety of other restaurants, including Carraba’s Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill and Roy’s Restaurant.

History of Outback

Outback Steakhouse opened in 1988, in Tampa, Florida. It only took about a year-and-a-half for five more restaurants to open in various locations. In 1993, they had 100 restaurants open and existed in 15 different states. In 1997, Outback became an international company, with its first location in South Korea opening. Today there are more than 100 international locations open. The Australian theme of the restaurants happened upon chance. The idea began due to the popularity of the hit movie, Crocodile Dundee. None of the three founders of Outback had ever been to Australia, but they felt as if it would give their restaurant a successful angle. They wanted people to feel laid-back, casual and comfortable in their restaurant, which is the same atmosphere found in Australia. This theme has proven to be successful for Outback as its growth continues.

Food Offerings

Outback Steakhouse is known for its high quality, fresh food. The restaurant only serves dinner on weekdays and lunch and dinner on the weekends. In addition, they cater to those with food allergies, especially those that must avoid gluten, by ordering off of Outback’s’ gluten free menu.
